Question
The form of the Aramaic language called Christian Aramaic is today spoken only as a liturgical language and by a few isolated Christian communities in the Middle East. By what other name is this language known?
Thank you

Answer
Hi!

There are some differences among the Modern dialects of Aramaic. Here is a rundown:

Syriac, spoken in several small towns and hamlets in Syria, thus the name!

Chaldean, spoken by many of the Christians in Iraq.

Mandean, spoken still I think, in isolated and small communities among the Arab christians in South East Turkey.
