Question
What does it mean when someone has a Class A Misdemeanor?

Answer
Thanks for your clarification. I am an attorney from India. I am not familiar with US Laws, however, hope I can clarify the basics.

Felony is punishable by imprisonment in state prison whereas a misdemeanor carries a maximum punishment of a short term sentence to a jail or house of correction and/or a fine. In some jurisdictions there are also petty misdemeanors. In addition, criminal codes in certain states classify felonies and misdemeanors into classes (e.g.class A,B etc., with the corresponding punishment or sentencing categories.

However, I am not in a position to say exactly Class A misdemeanor and what it is.
