Arbitration/Mediation/Offer Acceptance

Question
Hello,

I have a quick question that came up on an exam I recently took and it's driving me crazy.  Does an acceptence of an offer become legally valid at the time it is sent or at the time it is received?  (I answered "sent", but the way the test is administered it does not tell you if you're right or not.)

Great question.  Usually, there is an acceptance when it is sent unless the offer expresses otherwise.  In other words, if the offer said it was not a valid acceptance until received, it is only valid when received.
