A website designer is developing my first brochure business website in addition to a new logo. How can I get my logo protected so someone else can't copy it? Shouldn't I have this logo protected before my site goes online and also before I place it on any paper brochures and business cards, refrigerator magnets, etc.?
Also, should I be concerned that someone at the website design agency might be likely to copy it or sell it as well?
Is there a way to protect my domain name?
Thank you for any advice!
Sincerely,
Mike Eidson
Answer Dear Mr.Edison,
It would be appreciable if know the person's state and country from where he is contacting so as to give my answer to meet the requirment of the particular state laws.
Any way, I can give my random opinion on your query:
Your logo shall be registered under the "Trade Mark" and style of letters shall be registered as "Letter Mark" or "Service Mark". Once it is registered, as suggested above, that will protect your domain name too, in case of any infringment.
I would suggest to contact your local lawyer who is specialising in IPR.
