Question
why is it important for archaeologists to "date" their findings?

Answer
Hi Madison,

Dating the find is critical to the understanding of the way and when the deposit was made so that it can be compared to other sites with similar assemblages of tools and materials. The larger the sample of materials from a given period of time the better we understand  the cultural development and capabilities of the people.
