Archaeology/How to become an Archeologist

Question
I am a sophomore in High School, and I am really interested in archeology. However, I don't know if it's a career I can have a future with. Furthermore, I would like to get involved in any and every dig I can possibly get into. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help, advice, and any suggestions. Thanks again.

Sincerely,
Kathryn

Answer
hi Kathryn,

Join www.shovelbums.com.  They list all kinds of jobs, both paying and volunteer as well as field schools that you may be eligible for .  Check with you high school guidance counselors to make sure you can get the college credit for doing summer field schools at a university level.

Advice I was once given,  Get the degree in Anthropology and Archaeology but always minor in a back up field like economics, sociology or other field so that if the archaeology does not pan out you have something to fall back on.  Even plumbing.
