Archaeology/city under the sea?

Question
hi john.

my father was just talking about some show he saw on the discovery channel about an undersea city that may be as old as the "cavemen" times or some crap.

i am very skeptical of this but i was wondering if you could shed any light on the issue.

thanks for your time.

Can't say much because I haven't seen the program, but my guess would be that you are correct.  I know of no city older than around 5000 years ago and none currently located underwater.  There are some small villages that have been flooded by postglacial sea level rise (12,000-5000 years ago), but that's it.
Sometimes a good archaeology documentary makes it on TV, but much of it is bunk.
If you wish me to comment further, I would need to know the name of the television program in question.
Cheers,
