Question
Salier,

as a rising senior interested in archaeology, but open to most anthropology feilds, iv been reading alot of the questions about promising universities and have found it very helpful.  i live near houston so in-state colleges are pretty bountiful, UT at A being the first to look at.  My main question is based on the fact that i love both archaeology and photography. A bit of an artist, i beleive i would have potential in the feild, but would photography help an archaeology major?? would anything in art help at all? if so what would you suggest university-wise?

thanks for any advice
shannon

Answer
Hi Shannon,

Photography is a key and esential part of archaeology. Photographs are taken at every step of site work, snaps of insitu artifacts etc... as well as in the lab where artifacts are photographed as part of the curation process.  Any of the UT or State Us would be good.  But what do you want to study? North American Archaeology? South American, Greek.....? There are other schools which are very good like U of Arizona and U of Colorado.  U of Chicago etc...
