Archaeology - Machupicchu

Expert: Ralph Salier - 9/29/2008

Question
I have gotten into a dispute of whether or not Machupicchu could be built using today's technology.

Would you please briefly explain the biggest challenges and whether or not you think todays technology could master those challenges?

Answer
HI Billy,

The answer is yes.  With todays technology we could build Machu Pichu.  What is amazing is that it was done with out modern technology!

The fact that it was build on a mountain top would not be at issue nor would the building of the terraces.  What may be difficult would be the closely fitting stones but with various technologies like water jet cutting, laser cutting, prescision wire cutting, the stones could be cut to fit as closely as was done in ancient times.  The question is how did they manage to do it.
