Question
I am a high school senior interested in studying japanese archaeology, is that possible to accomplish?

Answer
Yes.  However,

1) you will need to speak Japanese
2) They do not view their archaeological remains in the same way the West does
3) Their "history" is based on the written history not prehistory
4) Their pre-history is not viewed as important (at least as little as 15 years ago)

Your best option is the university in the north island.
