Archaeology/archaeology digs in Texas

Question
A senior citizen friend of mine who doesn't use computers is looking for a contact in the Austin, Texas area who could direct her to possible digs in Texas that would accept volunteers.

Answer
Hi Suzanne,

Join www.shovelbums.org.  This website lists all of the field schools around  the world (or at least a lot of them).  U of North Texas has a good program as does UT Austin but I'm not sure if UTA has a dig this year.  UNT generally does each year.  I'm not sure if they except volunteers but it does not hurt to ask.  Contact the Dept. of Anth at both and ask.
