Question
Hi,
Archaeology is the second thing i want to be. An d I want to know how is it to be that and i have a imporant question um how do you guys like know what kind of animal the fossil is and plus like how many years is it in college i cant wait to study it in college thank you for reading.

Answer
Hi Yajaira,

You have a very unusual name.  Can you tell me where you are from?

Archaeology is an interesting field of study in which you excavate and study the remains of human cultures.  On occasion you may also find the bones of individuals or whole communities in grave yards.  For the most part these are not yet fossilized.  If you go back far enough to the bones of Cromagnon and Neaderthal, then you may begin to find fossils.  Of course, those hominids that came before early modern humans and Neaderthals are generally found in fossil form.

If you are talking about non-human fossils like dinosaurs or the remains of plants and other animals then you are going to study Paleontology.

In both cases, to get a BA will take 4 years of university study and for a MA or Masters an additional 2 to 5 years depending on the nature of the study you undertake.  Some people also get a PhD (a doctorate) which may take another 1 to 5 years of study.

Good luck in your studies.  If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
