Hello Ralph, I am currently a Junior at the University of Rhode Island with a major in history and a minor in communications.  I am interested in anthropology and I think I would enjoy the field experience of an archaeology summer program.  There is one at my school that goes to Belize.  I was wondering if you could recommend some local programs that you are impressed by.

Join www.shovelbums.org and take a look at the field schools they have listed there.  Remember to check with you university to make sure that the credits are transferable and that you will not be penalized for taking credits outside of you school.
