Question QUESTION: hello sir
I am Bhavatosh Dhavale from India.I have completed my Masters in Anthropology from the university of pune in the state of Maharashtra. I am interested in doing my Phd in archaeology in south-east asian countries. so could you please suggest me some of the universities?
thank you
ANSWER: Hi Bhavatosh,
When you say SE Asian countries, are you looking at Thailand, Kampuchia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesian etc... or do you include India, Bangladesh?? Are you looking at prehistoric, historic, migrational, early man.....
If you could clarify your area of interest and desired focus, It would help. Also I would recommend that you go to www.google.com and put in: "Ph D programs archaeology SE Asia" and look at what schools are discussed.
I am more then happy to be of assistance but need your clarification.

QUESTION: thank you sir..
well i am interested in pre-historic culture and also heard a lot about Chinese archaeology. well i just wanted some information about the universities offering PhD courses.
Thank you
Answer Hi Bhavatosh,
There are many universities around the world that have programs. Typically in a PhD program it is important to focus on a particular culture, area or time frame. As you note, pre=historic China is a very interesting and exciting "space". The University in Bejing would be my first choice. Univeristy of Chicago and Oxford Unversity would be #2 and 3. Baring these, there are others that focus on specific aspects of the pre-history such as migratory patterns, lithics, ceramic development etc...
