Question Good Afternoon,
I am simply wondering what is the best college to go to for studying archaeology? (if cost and location were not an issue) Also I am looking for a college that has an archaeological program that is based more so around Egyptology or the Mediterranean area, not just the classic type of archaeology. Can you give me any suggestions?
Answer Hi Catie,
Well the first thing you need to do is make a few decisions. They include: 1) what kind of archaeology do I want to study (time frame, culture, region etc...), 2) Alternative study areas, 3) What level of degrees do you plan to get? (BA, MA, PhD), 4) What do you plan to do with it? and finally, 5) what is your back up plan?
There are tons of people who study the Classical Cultures of Greece and Rome, Egypt and Mesopotamia etc.. but consider the lesser cultures like the Hittites, Scythians, Vikings, Goths etc... Have you considered North American Cultures? Does the science matter more to you or does the reconstruction matter more?
Answer these and it will help me focus you towards an appropriate university.
