Archaeology/High School Students and digs

Question
How can a high school student get in on an archeologist dig? Is there something that I should be doing to find out about these kinds of events? I am new to this kind of thing.
Thanks!

Answer
Look into the website of the Archaeological Institute of America -www.archaeological.org
They have a searchable database of excavations accepting students/volunteers as well as contact information for
state-level archaeology societies all over the US and Canada.
They also publish Archaeology magazine.
