Archaeology/Rock Hammer/Axe and bowling ball?

Question
Hi there Ralph,

I saw this response you posted:
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Archaeology-654/2010/4/old-hammer-head-tool-1.htm

I recently inherited a very similar hammer/axe head that also shows it was fully girded.

I was wondering if you could take a look at it and tell me what you know about it. I believe it was my great grandfathers, who lived in west North Dakota. That is really all I know.

I also inherited what I was told it an old rock bowling ball, it looks more like something that could have been used for curling, do you know anything about this object either?

Thanks,
Wayne

Answer
Hi Wayne,

If you would send me photos of the objects with a scale next to them ( a ruler would work) and send the pics to me at rsalier@hotmail.com.  Put artifact in the subject line.

I will take a look and give you my opinion.  If you have any more details of where they were found, that would help a lot.  I may have some additional questions once I see  the objects.
