Question

Rock tool
Hi Ralph,

I found this rock probably 30-35 years ago in my backyard in NJ. I always thought it was something but never looked into it. Well I was doing some cleaning out of closets and found it. Id like to know if you can identify it for me and if it has any monetary value. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Joe Murphy

Answer
Hi Joseph,

It is very hard to tell from this pic.  Can you send me more?  For instance take pics of the two pointy ends, the edges and  the other side of the object as well as a close up of the central area, it looks like there may be a groove going across the face.  You c an send the pics to rsalier@hotmail.com and put artifact in the subject line.  When you take  the pics, include a ruler or some other item of known size like a coin for scale.

Thank you.

Ralph Salier
