Hi Dan,

This photo really helps, especially with the $5 underneath.  This tells me that the diameter of the ball is 4.75" which is the the size of a Culverin.  The ball should weigh in at about 15lbs.  It appears to be steel shot based on what appears to be rusty concretions on the surface.  

It has no markings?  Does it have a 1" round "plug" with two small dimples? This would be the fuze.
