AnswerHi Melissa,
At a minimum you will need to have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. In the US, there are many fine programs that would provide such a degree. Many tend to have a cultural focus or an area focus like "North America" or The "Inca" or "Meso America" etc... So, if you have an area of interest, there may be a college or university that would have a program in the archaeology of that area of interest.
If you are currently in High School, then be sure to take as much science as possible, including Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. If you are a senior and are looking to graduate this year, that is ok too. To help you find the best school for your area of interest, please answer the following questions:
1) What lead you to your interest in Archaeology?
2) Grade and current class rank
3) areas of cultural interest
4) have you ever seen or participated in a dig?
5) what do you hope to do with such a degree (Anthropology/Archaeology)?
6) do you have a back up plan?
7) do you expect to go on for a Masters and PhD?
I look forward to your responses.
Ralph
