Question
I completed Civil engineering and I want 2 become a Building Archaeologist. Will a B.Tech in Civil Engineering enough to pursue archaeology in the graduate level? Is there any way to study archaeology in the Graduate level without an academic degree on archaeology or its related subject (like history etc.) in the UG level? Please reply as soon as possible.

Answer
Hi Sagnik,

Being a "building archaeologist" is a very narrow field and I"m not sure if there is a lot of work to be found.  Most archaeologists begin from a broader perspective and then focus into an specialty.  Having the B.Tech will be essential to being a building archaeologist or an archaeologist of any civilization which had monumental architecture like Rome, Greece, Egypt etc....

I would recommend a second BA in Archaeology as this will give you the prerequisites  and broader understanding of archaeology as a field of study.  But it is not required.   Doing a graduate degree in Archaeology with a specialization can be done but you will need to convince the university you apply to that you understand the basics and can make the transition.
