Can you tell me what language is on this ring and what the winged creature represents ? Thank you for any info you can provide. Paula

Answer
Hi Paula,

I  think that this has been made to look old.  I'm not sure but I don't think that it is "old".  It is made in the lost wax technique which is ancient but is still used today.  Not knowing what the alloy is, makes it hard to determine if it truly antique.   The writing appears to be Greek and the fellow holding the snake Hypocrites from the Hippocratic oath fame.  The snake or Caduceus symbol for medicine can be seen getting its start here.
