Question
I've wanted to be an archaeologist since I can remember and I have finally started going back to school to pursue it.

I live in Panama City, FL and plan on attending the FSU Panama City Campus, but the closest thing they offer is a BS or BA in Interdiciplinary Social Sociences. So my question is if you think it is a bad idea to get that degree and then transfer to FSU's main campus in Tallahassee at a later point in time to pursue a Masters and possibly a PhD in Anthropology. My ultimate goal is to teach at a University or College level and attend digs in my summers.

Also when it comes to schools in Florida which would you consider to be best for this field?

Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Justin,

If you are interested in Archaeology, go to FSU Tallahassee, there you can  get the field school experiance you need to be an archaeologist. UFL Gainsville is another alternative. To teach at the University level, you will need a PhD and these opportunities are hard to find, especially if you limit yourself to a specific regional specialization. FSU does have one thing that UFL does not, that is underwater field schools.  The best school for archaeology in the US is U of Arizona.
