Question
Hi, my name is Erin. I'm a grade 11 student in Manitoba Canada. I've been doing a little research on archaeology and I have seen other sites of what education is needed and such. But, I need to know exactly what is needed to get into a good university or collage in my area. What classes should I be taking for this? Let me know please I really want to be an Archaeologist!!!

Answer
Hi Erin,

Good grades, extra curricular activities, being a member of local service organizations all help get into college/university. In school you should have taken Biology, Chemistry, physics, earth sciences, English (Writing especially), Higher level math and at a minimum Geometry. Trig would be good but not critical. History and Geography are also very important (Geography is essential).

Hope this helps.  Also check with the local university and see if they have any summer digs going on and see if you can take the courses for credit.  As a Junior you should be able to take this for credit(university credit) and this would place you in good position to get accepted as well.
