Question
I'm interested in archaeology, but I'm not sure if I want to be one on te future. I was just wondering though, do archaeologists have to have any certain licenses or certifications to prove that they are indeed an archaeologist or things like that?

Answer
Hi Samantha,

Yes, in some states to practice archaeology you need to have a degree from a university and a degree in Archaeology.  The state will then certify you or licenses you to work in that state.  But some don't.   Also, depending on the type of archaeology may make a difference.  Prehistoric vs historic.
