Ask me about materials and techniques, and about how you can get the best value for your design and construction dollar. Ask me how you can make your home a very special place. I can't, however, answer specific structural engineering questions in this forum - that's something you'll need on-site observation for.

Question We are building in Bend, Oregon on 10 acres. 3800 sq.ft. ranch. We want a country/farmhouse/ranchy feel. It will have reclaimed barnwood floors, stone 2 sided fireplace, farmhouse kitchen. What style of interior doors would fit best?
Answer Hi Dianne - congrats on your choice of places to build! Bend and Sunriver are two of my favorite places in the world - great scenery, great people, great golf, great architecture!
Interior doors are just another form of millwork, and can be custom made to match the character of your home. I would suggest that you consider using rough-sawn or reclaimed native woods for the doors. Showing the grain and texture of the wood is important, but generally simpler is better when it comes to design.
Hardware is important, too. Rockymountainhardware.com has some great stuff, and their gallery has several very nice examples of doors that you might use for a starting point.
Bend has a number of millwork companies and woodworkers; you might contact some of them about custom doors.
Don't skimp on the quality of the door design or materials; it's one of the components of the interior that can make or break the design.
Hope this helps,
