Question
A house we are purchasing is in a restricted victorian town, meaning, we can only paint in Victorian colors. The house built in 1891 is, i think a Queen Anne, although it has a cement porch with no roof. (I think a remodel somewhere along the years). Has several different kinds of shingles on sides, looks like one as near as i can tell. We like muted tones (It is now deep red and gray). It has a gray roof. Can we use browns and greens an tan?

Hi Donna,

I think you could use browns and tans, but don't forget to work with the roof color. A color scheme that incorporates some grey on trim or accents may help to tie this into the roof color.

Take a look at Sherwin Williams Victorian Color palette. This will give you an idea of the kids of colors to use.
