Architecture/yellow brick

Question
We just purchased a yellow brick home, that is very light in color.  At the moment it has all white trim, no shutters, and is very plain and drab.  I would like your opinion on color ideas for trim and shutters that will enhance my home, and make it pop!  Thank you!

Answer
Thank you Leisa for your question.

Your question just came in at the right time. I recently had the opportunity to decorate a home with yellow American brick. What a lovely color it is, and is very much appreciated on the current market wave. All in all, still a popular choice.

What I suggest is to enhance its value by blending in rich colors to make it stand out. Remember, it is important to make sure that you choose a color that will fit with your personal "signature". If it is harmonized correctly, will you look at the totality of your home, meaning from top to bottom.

With regards to trims and shutters, colors in the range of dark wood, as in medium or dark browns, dark burgundy and dark sand ranges are very welcome to highlight the yellow and will make your home shine with value.

If you dare, black is also a popular choice. In this particular case, do ask yourself if you will love the black trims for the next five or ten years. If you hesitate with your answer, do stick to the natural colors as suggested above.

Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

Best Regards,
