Architecture/painting exterior of my house

Question
My house has a brick front - kind of brick red but not deep tone with some brown and black bricks scattered randomly. It has white siding, which is also over the garage. I have a reddish brown roof. My current color scheme is subtle - deep tan, almost light taupe for shutters and front door and garage door, with a lighter beige accenting over door and window trim. I'm about to repaint and my painting contractor said the color is wrong, I should have dark shutters. I wondered if you agree with him that would be a better curb appeal look, or is it just a matter of taste?

Answer
Hi Wendy,

There are no rules that shutters must be dark. They could be white on a house with dark siding.  Color is generally a matter of taste.  If you think the lighter shutters look good, then go with it.

If you want to attach a photo and repost I can give you my opinion.

Good luck.
