Question
i am curious on how much you think it would cost to transform a 25,000 square foot elementary school into low quality apartments for college students?

Answer
Hi Alex,

That's a hard question to answer because it depends on so many factors.  With kitchens and baths and all the plumbing and electrical work necessary I would take a guess of around $100/sf.  It could be less or more of course depending on how much of the exterior you have to redo, roof, and other modifications necessary (elevators?).  It all adds up. I would suggest meeting with some contractors in your area if you want a better idea.  Also, things tend to be more expensive in Seattle than in other parts of the country.  If you are in the midwest and some other areas of the country, construction cost can be considerably less than here.
