Question
I live in a 60's brick home complete with carport. There are white vinyl windows, vinyl eaves and a rear addition with white vinyl siding which would be difficult to paint. There are wood panels under all front windows. The front door has a white storm door over it. I have recently painted the front doors black. My question is should I leave the trim around the doors white, it looks fine on the front door, but am not sure about the white trim around the carport doors. Three front doors and a carport are a challenge! Thank you for your help!

Hi Christie,
I think the white trim works on the carport door (the one up the stairs) and the front door because the white engages the white trim above. The same can't be said about the lower carport door, though. Here I would paint the trim black, so the whole things blends into the brickwork. Generally, the question I ask is: Do you want to highlight this element(trim, door, or whatever it is)? If the answer is 'no' paint it so it blends in.
