Question
company who supplied brick for new addition (about 2000 bricks) could not match but stained the bricks to match with Sherwin Williams water based stain. They said it would last the life of the brick. What do you think.

Answer
Thank you for your question.

With regards to the Sherwin Williams water based stain, here is the explanation of the product from their web site:
"H&CŪ Concrete Stain Solid Color Water-Based bonds to concrete and forms a tough shield so it doesn't fade, peel or flake like paint and is low odor. It is resistant to acids, ultraviolet rays, oil, gas and alkali while maintaining a decorative finish. Available in a variety of ready-to-use and tintable colors, as well as a clear, this stain is ideal for high pH surfaces. Fortified with silicone."

If the brick that has been supplied for your addition is concrete, it may do the job, as long as the recommended instructions are appropriately followed. This product is not recommended for clay brick.

The stain may not last the life of the brick. It is like wood, once you stain it, you may have to retouch that in a few years. Although it is a good non expensive solution.

Hope this helps.
