home
we just recently bought a home and I do not like the color of the trim.  It looks too dark and I'd like to brighten it up.  Also, I hate how the trim is extended underneath the windows on the second floor.  How easy is it to remove this trim and put siding over it?  I've driven through many neighborhoods trying to find homes with this sort of trim to see how they painted it, but I can't find any others.  Does it have a name?  Thanks

Hi Sam,

The house seems to be inspired by the tudor style, which typically had brick, stucco and dark painted wood.

Removing the siding shouldn't be too hard below the window, but you will want to remove some siding to each side of the window to weave the new siding in (assuming you will match the existing siding).  For colors, consider switching everything that is dark to lighter, and painting the siding dark.
