Question
Hello
I am planing to start my studies again after some 10 years gap. I am very poor at maths and physics but I am very interested in architecture and design and wanted to get myself a bachelor degree in the same. I have already applied so some universities and got into one with the help of my portfolio in both architecture and urban planing.
Can you please tell me is architecture more maths and physics oriented or urban planing? which should I pursue?
Thanking you

Answer
Do not be deterred by the math and physics requirements.  I also did not do well in these subjects.
You will rarely ever use them as structural and other engineers must be consulted always to deal with the design of structural and environmental components.
I personally like both fields as they are interrelated.
You will have to make the final decision but neither require any day to day use of physics, calculus or other intensive mathematics.  If you understand basic geometry and trigonometry you will do fine.

Expertise

I am interested in the artistic and theoretical aspects of architecture and urban design/planning. I can discuss the progression of classical to modern architecture, the general stylistic and technical development, the formation of towns and cities, the background and training of architects. Ask any question relating to the profession, working with an architect, background information, etc.
