Job Title: Architect & Principal
Job Description: Manage a small architecture firm
1. how did you get interested in your field of work?
A: I always liked to build things as a kid and my mom was in Real Estate and I loved seeing the homes she was selling.
2.Hod did you prepare for this career?
A: 5 years at Carnegie Mellon University and 3 years of internship
3. What special skills do you need for your job?
A: Ability to work well with others, good math, comprehension, computer skills. Design skills of course. Management and accounting skills too.
4. what do you like best about your job?
A: Designing
5. what do you like least about your job?
A: Clients who don't pay their bills
6. what are some different jobs you have had in the past?
A: I taught an architecture studio at Ohio State. I worked at a large architecture firm (NBBJ) and a couple small architecture firms. I worked with the Center for Building Performance and Diagnostics in Pittsburgh. I worked in a restaurant during high school.
7. what advise would you give to someone entering your field?
A: Be sure you love what you are doing because it is not easy to make a good living doing what I do.
