Question
Greetings Respected Sir,
My name is Nausherwan and I am currently 16 years of age doing my A'levels. Now the subjects I'm taking are Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Art&Design. I have made up my mind to do Architecture.
And my question to you is,
Do I need Chemistry? I just gave my AS exams and I am dead sure I haven't performed well in chemistry. So I thought maybe I could drop it and take History of Art and World History instead?
I am told History of Art is somewhat a needed subject for Architecture but I'm also going to take World History (for credits sake). So then what do you think?
And I have another question, I understand there are also many fields of architecture? Which do you think would be an appropriate choice for me?

Hi Nausherwan,

Unless you see yourself involved with a company that develops building materials, I don't see that chemistry will be terribly useful. Math and Physics are good, and both are a good prelude to Structural Engineering/Design. I think History of Art would be useful.

As for fields of architecture, I would say it's too early to decide what you want to do. I would continue through school and then an architecture program, and that should help clarify your interests.
