Question I have a simple question , can an architect specialize in only doing renderings, or do they have to be a general architect and help inspect buildings for safety etc. Im in highschool right now and i dont know if i should take this class called Applied Residential Construction, or just skip it and take CAD architecture which leads to applied arch/engineering. I like the drawings/renderings of making of the houses and want to do that, but dont know if its possible with the wide spectrum of things an architect can do.
Answer Campbell:
Yes, it is possible to make a living doing only renderings. There are several individuals and companies that do quite well with this type of work. Most smaller architecture firms will hire one of these specialists when the need a particularly good rendering of a project. Larger firms often have an artist in-house who does this sort of work.
However, you are still young, and I would encourage you to continue to explore a wide range of possibilities and not narrow yourself down to far at this time.
Good luck!
