Question well hello,
I am applying to some architecture schools this December, and i have several questions about Architecture in college and its requirements in high school.
first of all, how good do you have to be at art because come to think of it i'm not that good an artist.Second, for landscape architecture, do i need to learn history and politics and stuff i don't know I have seen it written somewhere.
Thank you so much for your time.
Answer Hi Mohammed:
Architecture is a good career choice. Good luck with your college applications. Yes, art is important; particularly freehand sketching. You might not be a good artist now, but don't assume that you can't learn the skills. A good teacher who knows what you want to learn, can make all the difference. Is there an art teacher at your high school that you can talk with about your wish to study architecture? They might be able to modify some class requirements for you, and allow you to focus on perspective type sketching.
For landscape architecture, history and politics are not special requirements; these subjects would only be needed to satisfy core requirements; advanced courses would probably not be needed. If you were to study historical landscape architecture, which is a very specialized field with a very narrow employment outlook; then those courses would be more important.
Good luck,
Paul B.
