Architecture - Finding building adice online

Question
Hi Paul,
I'm also an expert on allexperts.com.  I'm a roofing contractor and my field is roofing advice.  Someone asked about how to tie in the ridge beam of a new roof into the the old roof.  That,s a framing question, not a roofing question.  But I found an answer for him.  As I was searching for a good resource online for a framing question, it occurred to me that someone on allexperts.com may already know about online resources for questions like that.

So the question is, do you recommend any particular websites that gives good, practical, homeowner-level instruction on how to build a house?

BTW, I referred that particular guy to this webpage...

http://www.hometime.com/Howto/projects/framing/frame_5.htm

Thanks!
Stan Skarbek

Answer
Hi Stan; nice to 'e-meet' you.
Short answer:  No, I don't already have a favorite 'how to build a house' website that I send people to.
But, doing a quick search just now, I found this...
http://www.howstuffworks.com/house.htm
and this one;..
http://architecture.about.com/od/buildyourhous1/
and this one:...
http://www.buildyourownhouse.ca/basic/intro.htm
They all seem pretty helpful.
Thanks for asking; I will keep these handy from now on.
Best,
PB
