Architecture/How to make our House appears TALLER

Question
How can I make my house appear taller? We just bought a single level house built on a slab foundation. It also sits lower than the road which makes it appear even squattier (shorter).  The siding is a light blue/gray color with white trim, shutters and garage door.  The roof is a beautiful but, over powering, dark putty/gray, tone on tone pattern.  Even the flowers in the beds that encircle the base of the house make the house appear to be sinking in the ground. The house is only 11 years old, but it lacks that something special to make it stand out, that wow.

Our house is on a flat acre plus lot with 2 red maple trees on either side of the front lawn. Along the side of the driveway between the front door and the garage door is an evergreen all of which are about to the top of the roof in height.  There is about a 10 foot almond tree in the center and a few small dom and ball cedars around the base of the house.

Please help, any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks and God Bless.

P.S. Our house is just outside of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

Expertise

Ask me about all aspects of house, remodeling. , and room addition design and construction. Ask me about historic homes, renovation, and restoration. Ask me about materials and techniques, and about how you can get the best value for your design and construction dollar. Ask me how you can make your home a very special place. I can't, however, answer specific structural engineering questions in this forum - that's something you'll need on-site observation for.
