Question We just purchased 12 acres of land and are hoping to build our dream home. To begin with, we are building a 2500 sq. ft. building (approx 50x50) that will house our camper and some of my husband's work equipment. The building will be pretty close to the house so I want the exterior of the building and the exterior of the house to match. The house is country in style, with a large front porch. My husband wants to go with brick but I'm thinking stone and hardiplank. I definately want a metal roof. Where can I go to find samples of house/garage exteriors? Who can help with this process? I have searched countless hours on the internet but to no avail. Thank you for your time.

Answer Hi Jenny:
Sounds like a great project!
You could definately benefit from the help of an architect. It sounds like what you need are custom renderings of your proposed design, with various finishes options. There are 3-D computer modelling programs available these days that can allow an Architect to render the exterior of your building in a variety of materials; relatively quickly after drawing the basic building.
You should contact the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects in your area (AIA) and ask them for help in selecting an architect to work with you.
I hope you have a great experience and get exactly what makes you happy. Good luck!
