Architecture/architecture vs drafting

Question
What is the difference between an architect and a draftsman?

Answer
Hi Lance
In a legal sense, the Architect is the individual who is responsible for the life safety of the people who occupy a building.  The draftsman is the person who draws up the construction plans at the direction of the Architect, and the draftsman has no responsibility for the success or failure of the outcome.
Typically, the Architect is the person responsible for the design of a particular building:  the way it looks; the way the spaces lay out.  The draftsperson is usually employed by the Architect, to help with the workload of getting the design executed.
I hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
PB
