Argentina/Argentina Trip

Question
Hi Kathy

My husband and I have a month off next year and we are thinking of heading south (we currently work in Mexico).

It will be sometime in Spring depending on work.  We would like to see BA and also Tierra del Fuego.  Can we travel by sleeper train on this journey?  As we have always wanted to take a 'romantic' train trip.

Are there any 'must sees' you can recommend??

Also can we take an Antartic cruise from here?  but I imagine they are very expensive????

Many thanks

Emma

Answer
Hi!  I am sorry for the delay.  I did not answer your questions right away and that was the problem............

As far as going to Tierra del Fuego, I do not believe there are any trains at all.  You can do a bus though.  My daughter just got back from Trelow and Calafate and did fly but had planned on a bus.  The bus is not expensive but it is a long trip but they have sleeper buses.
Sorry, it would be great to do a romantic train ride....I agree.  The long trip.  It is a lot less than a plane (about $500 or more round trip)I took on one was from Santiago to Puerto Montt in Chile but that is not running at this time.

Must see is Iguassu Falls which is still a flight away (also bus) and is on the boarder of Brazil and Argentina.  If you wanted you could go over to see the Falls on the Brazil side.  You are suppose to have a $100.00 visa to do this but I know people do it with local taxis.

Hope this helps a bit...Oh, just thought, look at the area of Salta or Mendosa.

I have been to Argentina many times and the last in 2007. Have visited, IGU Falls, Mendosa, Northern parts of Argentina (Salta). I also do volunteering for Peru/Ecuador/Chile/Brazil. Just never took the time to sign up for Argentina but now having been to more areas, feel I could help those that want to travel there. Kathy
