Question
I would like to go to Peru, then to Santiago, then Bariloche Argentina. I'm struggling to find how I can get there without going via Buenos Aires. My ideal would be to fly from Lima to Santiago, then onto Bariloche but I can't find any flights. Can you advise what is the normal routing for the journey. Many thanks Graham

Answer
Hi Graham,

The only way I know to get to Bariloche without going to Buenos areas is to go south to Puerto
Montt in Chile and then do the lake crossing to Bariloche.  You can do this by bus or by a
trip of going on 3 boats and 3 buese.  The later does cost more but is a really great trip.  I
have done both.  There is no other way to get to Bariloche than this way.  Sorry.

Their use to be train service to Puerto Montt but now there is not so you have to fly or take
the bus.  The bus service is really great in Chile and they have nice overnight buses that
are very comfortable.  I have not done this but friends have.

Enjoy your trip and if you have other questions on Peru, especially, let me know.  Enjoy
this trip you will be doing.  I really enjoy Peru and love Bariloche.  Kathy

I have been to Argentina many times and the last in 2007. Have visited, IGU Falls, Mendosa, Northern parts of Argentina (Salta). I also do volunteering for Peru/Ecuador/Chile/Brazil. Just never took the time to sign up for Argentina but now having been to more areas, feel I could help those that want to travel there. Kathy
