Question
Kathy,

I have rented an apartment in Buenos Aires for the month of February 2011. I have been to Argentina for the last three winters but have not gone to the lake district. I speak fairy good Spanish

I am 75 years old and will be on my own, and am somewhat reluctant to rent a car.

I would like to fly to Bariloche, then go by bus to Villa La Angustora for a few days to walk. From there by bus to San Martin los Andes, then back to Bariloche by bus.

I have found the bus scheduales.

The following are questions.

From what I have read Bariloche is rather big and crowded I  would avoid it and go directly to Villa la Angostora.Good idea?

In five days can you cover this area?

Can you recommend a hotel in Villa la Angostora and San Miquel that is in town so I can walk to restaurants.

Thank you,

Charlie

Answer
Hi Charlie,  What a great thing you are doing................going to Buenos Aires for the winters.  I love Bariloche and would not say it is crowded.  The country side is beautiful.  Five days would be fine but if you stay a night or two in Bariloche, add a few on to the 5.

Sorry, I can't help you on the hotels since I usually stay in Bariloche. If I didn't have 2 dogs, I think a month in BA for the winter would be wonderful.  Love the steaks.  Hope someone can help you or just look up Lonely Planet and see what it says on hotels.  Enjoy your February.  Kathy

Just never took the time to sign up for Argentina but now having been to more areas, feel I could help those that want to travel there. Kathy
