Question -
We would like a one day excursion to the country, possibly an hacienda, close to Bs.As. where we can also see the Falabella horses and maybe have an asado. Is this possible ?
We are leaving on the 11th of Feb.
Thanks
Noemi
Answer -
Dear Noemi,

Thank you for your inquiry.
Regarding your interest in seeing Falabella horses, I would like to point out that this type of horses is not something you can find everywhere. There are lots of estancias in Buenos Aires, and many of them welcome foreign tourists to go and spend the day, try the asado or do horseback riding, but if your main interest is to see the Falabella horses, I suggest you contact the argentinian breeders of these horses at http://webs.satlink.com/usuarios/j/jmgfall/eng_.htm
This is their website, and their email address is falabellahorse@arnet.com.ar
I believe they should be able to provide you with accurate information about the best places you can visit.

Good luck!

Any suggestions re an estancia for a one day trip where we can ride horseback and try an asado ?

Answer
Dear Silvia (or Noemi?),

There are lots of estancias in Buenos Aires that you can try. Most travel agencies can arrange this for you and most hotels can also take care of your reservation through travel agencies they may work with.
I'd rather not give any specific name as each estancia has its own charm, pros and cons. If you search on Google I am sure you will find lots of options. Some offer the "gaucho party" (fiesta gaucha) which consists of spending the day at an estancia where there is a folkloric show and there are usually hundreds of tourists. This is not a very authentic way of enjoying the countryside but it is very inexpensive. Other estancias are more exclusive, only allowing a small number of guests per day, and do not have any touristy show. Perhaps you could look for an estancia in San Antonio de Areco, a town which is about 1 1/2 hour away from BA city, and which is known as the "gaucho town".

Best regards,

I was born in Argentina and have lived ever since so I can answer all kinds of questions about my country. I have also visited other countries and that has given me a wider perspective which enables me help foreigners in a better way. I have travelled along Argentina, from the north to the south and have been to almost its 22 provinces. I have also worked for a travel agency in the inbound tourism department. I enjoy being a hostess very much and feel willing to assist foreigners in the best possible way.

Experience

Have travelled a lot along the country. I´ve been in charge of the inbound tourism department at a travel agency. I worked in Japan as a volunteer for a culture exchange organization, giving lectures about Argentina.
