Argentina/Recommendation for estancias

Question
HI Cintia
I will be in Buenos Aires on Dec 24 and will leave for Iguazu Falls on Dec 30th (or evening of Dec 29th). I will like to spend one day to see a Pampas town and stay in a nice estancia. Could you recommend an authentic one? (I am looking for something that's not too commercial nor touristy, and hopefully with a stunning setting).
I also read that one should never book domestic airtickets outside of Argentina as one can always find it much cheaper when booking locally, but to be safe one can reserve it... how can i reserve it without purchasing it?
Could you also recommend a nice hotel in Recoleta? (i am interested in those old, grand hotels in the neighborhood, but wouldn't want to pay more than US $100 a night for a double room. is there a local travel agency that can help me with booking?)
Thanks!

Answer
Dear Christina,

There are many estancias you can choose from. I can't recommend any in particular, but if you just search over the Internet, you will find lots of options. As long as the one you choose does not offer the "gaucho party", it won't be too commercial.
As for the flights, if you fly Aerolineas Argentinas there is only one fare that is applicable to non residents, so no matter whether you purchase the flights abroad or in Argentina, the price will be the same.

Regarding hotels, there is only one old and grand hotel in Recoleta which is the ALvear Palace. It is the most luxurious hotel in the country and its rates are above USD 300.00 per night, plus tax. Please note that the city has several old hotels but many of them are located in areas that are no longer nice and safe to stay at. Also, the star rating in Argentina may be misleading as  many hotels have more stars than they should actually have.

I work in the travel industry but I do not use this website for business purposes because my intention here is to promote my country and make more people come and visit it. Logically, I can't recommend a travel agent either but same as I recommended about the estancias, please search over the Internet where you will find lots of options.

Kind regards,

Cintia
