Question
Greetings,

I am planning to travel to San Rafael area in July to (hopefully) purchase some property. I am also spanish deficit and am searching for a language course to take. Do you have any comments and/or recs that would make my 4 week working vacation more cost effective and pleasant?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hola Chamelyn,

I apologize for the long delay in responding - we've been in he middle of our relocation and way behind in our web work.

First on the Spanish language part: I would definately recomend that you try to get some Spanish under your belt before traveling here. Although may people speak English or at least a little English, your stay will be much more enjoyable if you can try to communicate first in Spanish. Also, at the end of four weeks you should have improved even further. There are a number of good online programs including Rosetta Stone and Platiquemos (http://www.platiquemos-letstalk.com). However, I would suggest trying to find a local class - maybe a community class.

Regarding San Rafael, I'm not as familiar with that area, but there are several people there that are doing property sales to extranjeros (foreigners) just be careful to read and if possible contact previous clients of them, as many people are taking advantage of foreigners. The price you normally see on the internet is usually way overpriced.

If you need any more information, please feel free to submit another question.

I can answer questions about relocating or expatriating to Argentina - specifically Buenos Aires. I currently live in Buenos Aires and enjoy sharing as much information with other people. If I can't provide an answer then I will try to direct you somewhere you can get the answer. I also keep a weblog of information at http://movingtoargentina.typepad.com about moving to and living in Argentina.

Experience

I am an expatriate from the U.S. to Buenos Aires and have gathered a rather large amount of resources, as well as interviewing key people in the real estate market in Buenos Aires. Feel free to see my weblog http://movingtoargentina.typepad.com for information I have already posted on a number of related topics.
