QuestionWe are thinking of travelling to this country[Argentina] and wish to know the best time of year to go -we dislike winter in UK so are thinking of possibly Jan. to Feb. time.[We like sun and warmth but not very hot weather]
Thanks for your help Brian
AnswerDear Brian,
Thank you for your inquiry!
Weather in Argentina varies depending on the region because as the country is quite large and long, you can find different temperatures depending on where you are.
Our summer goes between December and late March so this is definitely the warmest time of the year however, some parts of our country are very humid such as Buenos Aires and the Northeast (particularly the Iguazu Falls which has a subtropical climate). The Northwest (Salta and Jujuy), rich in culture and history is very hot as well, same as Mendoza, the wine region, however, these areas have a dryer climate so it doesnīt feel so hot in spite of having high temperatures.
It is important to point out that our summer is a very busy time of the year in terms of tourism, since there are dozens of cruises that visit our country so there are many travelers exploring around.
The Patagonia would probably be a great option for you, because during summer it is beautiful and not so hot with an average temperature between mid 60s-80s. I suggest you check on any guidebook about these places;
Lake district (Bariloche, Villa La Angostura, San Martin de los Andes), El Calafate (where the glaciers are) and Ushuaia (the southernmost city in the world).
I hope this helps and as mentioned above, I strongly recommend that in case you decide to visit our country this summer, donīt take too long to make firm plans as domestic flights and accommodation, especially in the Patagonia region, may be scarce.
Kind regards,
Cintia
