Arizona/In state tuition in Phoenix AZ area
Expert: Judy Hedding - 12/20/2008
QuestionI am considering a move to the Chandler area. How long do you have to be a resident to receive IN STATE tuition.
I hear the Southwest offers inexpensive education options.
Is this true? I hold a BA in Marketing and would like to go back to school for a healing art or training or PT.
What Universities or Colleges do you suggest looking at?
AnswerHello Renee,
Arizona residency is only a requirement for state universities. If you considering attending Arizona State University, the definition of a resident is someone is is permanently living in Arizona and has been physically present here for 12 months. Here is the link to the part of the web site that addresses such questions:
http://students.asu.edu/residency
If you are talking about one of our community colleges, then you must be a county resident for at least 50 days before the start of the semester.

If you are considering private/vocational schools for healing arts or Physical Therapy, then there would probably not be a reduced admission cost for residents because they are probably not state or county funded.
As far as recommendations are concerned, sorry, I haven't researched schools that offer those programs. You could ask if anyone has any experience with those programs in the Phoenix forum.
